What is a cookie?
“Cookies” are small text files that are stored by the browser on your computer or mobile phone. They allow websites to store such things as user preferences. You can think of cookies as providing a “memory” for the website, enabling it to recognise a user and respond appropriately.
A visit to a page of www.Lens.Academy may generate the following types of cookie.
These cookies cannot be used to identify individuals and are not made available to third parties. They are used to collect information about how visitors use our site, including the number of visitors to the site, where vistors have come to the site from and the pages they visited.
Lens.Academy is using Google Analytics to collect statistics on visits to the website. You can opt out of Google Analytics here.
Google Analytics and Display Advertising
We have updated our Google Analytics tracking code to support Google Display Advertising. This enables Google Analytics to collect data about your traffic via the DoubleClick cookie in addition to data collected through the standard Google Analytics implementation.
Display Advertising lets us enable features in Analytics that are not available through standard implementations (Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting). We use this data to develop the website and content around our users’ interests.
You can opt out of Google Analytics for Display Advertising and customise Google Display Network ads using the Ads Preferences Manager available here.
These cookies are used by our ad server software to manage which advertisements are placed on our website and to measure clicks on those ads. These cookies cannot be used to identify individuals and are not used to deliver specific content, advertising or otherwise, to your browser.
When you join Lens Academy, we generate cookies that signal whether you are logged in or not. Our servers use these cookies to work out which account you are signed in with. It also allows us to associate any comments you post with your username. If you have not selected “remember me,” your cookies get deleted when you either close your browser or shut down your computer.
On some pages of www.Lens.Academy, third parties may set their own cookies, for the purposes of tracking the success of their application, customising the application for you, displaying relevant ads, or measuring the success of an ad. For example, when you share an article using a social media sharing button on www.lens.academy, the social network that has created the button will record that you have done this.
Also, we sometimes embed video content from websites such as YouTube and Vimeo. As a result, when you visit a page with content embedded from one of these sites you may be presented with cookies from that website. In some cases, Lens Academy does not control the dissemination of these cookies and you should check the relevant third-party website for more information about them.
